About Hastelloy X Foil

Hastelloy X Foil is an alloy of nickel, chromium, and iron. It has a high-temperature capability, good corrosion resistance, excellent oxidation resistance, low vapour pressure characteristics and high strength in both the hot and cold states. The composition comprises approximately 55% nickel, 20-25% chromium, and iron and molybdenum at a concentration of 2-5%. This combination provides significant heat stability to the metal, which makes it ideal for use in demanding industrial applications such as furnace components or furnaces.

Exceptional Thermal and Corrosion Resistance

Hastelloy X Foil is engineered to perform under high-temperature conditions, enduring up to 1200C (2192F). Its robust alloy composition ensures outstanding resistance to oxidation and corrosion in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres, preserving its integrity even in harsh chemical or thermal environments.

Precision Engineering with Custom Dimensions

Available in customizable thicknesses ranging from 0.01 mm to 3 mm and widths up to 1000 mm, Hastelloy X Foil is delivered as continuous strip, sheet, or coil. Fabricated using cold-rolling and annealing techniques, it ensures precise tolerances and consistent quality, tailored exactly to project requirements.

Versatile Applications Across Industries

With high strength, ductility, and reliability, Hastelloy X Foil is trusted in critical sectors-including gas turbine engines, petrochemical heaters, heat exchangers, and furnace construction. Its formability and corrosion resistance make it a solid choice for demanding operational environments globally.

FAQ's of Hastelloy X Foil:

Q: How is Hastelloy X Foil typically manufactured?

A: Hastelloy X Foil is produced through a cold-rolling process followed by annealing to attain the desired mechanical properties and surface finish. The foil is available with slit or sheared edges and can be customized in thickness and width to fit specific requirements.

Q: What distinguishes Hastelloy X Foil in high-temperature applications?

A: Hastelloy X Foil offers superior resistance to oxidation and corrosion at temperatures up to 1200C (2192F), maintaining strength and stability in settings that involve extreme heat, such as gas turbine engines and furnace components.

Q: When should I use a mirror bright versus a dull surface finish?

A: The choice between a mirror bright and dull finish depends on application requirements. Mirror bright finishes are preferred for aesthetic or reflectivity purposes, while dull finishes are chosen for functional uses where glare or reflection is undesirable.

Q: Where can Hastelloy X Foil be applied effectively?

A: This alloy foil is widely used in the aerospace, petrochemical, and power generation industries, particularly for gas turbine engines, heat exchangers, furnace linings, and chemical processing equipment due to its durability and chemical resistance.

Q: What are the benefits of customizing foil dimensions?

A: Customizing thickness, width, and roll length allows the foil to precisely meet application specifications, minimizing material waste, simplifying installation, and enhancing performance and fit within complex assemblies or equipment designs.

Q: How does the impurity content affect product quality?

A: With a very low impurity content of 0.02%, Hastelloy X Foil ensures high purity and consistent physical and chemical properties, contributing to its reliable performance in demanding operational environments.
