Duplex Steel S32205 stud bolts are high-strength fasteners made of a dual-phase stainless steel. These bolts have roughly equal proportions of austenitic and ferritic steel properties. The S32205 grade is nitrogen alloyed to improve its corrosion resistance, especially to pitting and crevice corrosion. These stud bolts are used where the high strength or stress corrosion cracking resistance of standard stainless steel, e.g., 316, is not sufficient. They are characterised by high yield strength (usually twice the values of standard grades of austenitic steels) and good fatigue strength because of their chemical composition. These will be found mainly in applications involving chlorides or high-pressure chemical processing.
