Monel 400 plates are flat-rolled nickel-copper alloy products manufactured from UNS N04400, also referenced as Alloy 400 or Werkstoff 2.4360. The material is composed mainly of nickel (6370%) and copper (2834%), with small additions of iron, manganese, and other elements. This combination gives the alloy solid mechanical strength, good ductility, and notably good resistance to corrosion in both seawater and reducing acid environments. The material holds up well in hydrofluoric acid and hot sulphuric acid conditions where many other grades would fail. Monel 400 plates are regularly used in marine hardware, chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, oil refinery components, and water treatment systems.
